Foam and replacement ranges are our Greater Columbus pricing. Mudjacking prices vary by contractor; we don't offer it.

Lifting is usually the right call when…

  • The slab is in one or two pieces and has simply dropped
  • Cracks are hairline or narrow, not crumbling
  • You want it usable the same day
  • You need to fix a trip hazard without tearing out the surface

Replacement is the better fix when…

  • The concrete is crumbling, flaking or broken into many pieces
  • The slab has been pushed up by tree roots or frost (foam can't lower it)
  • You want a new size, shape or finish anyway
  • Old mudjacking has failed in a way foam can't get past

Foam vs Mudjacking: What Columbus Homeowners Ask

Why does foam cost more than mudjacking?

Foam material costs more, but it is light, goes in through small holes and is ready in about 15 minutes. Mudjacking slurry is heavy, and on the soft Crosby-Miami-Kokomo Silty Clay Loam under Central Ohio slabs, extra weight is exactly what you want to avoid.

My mudjacking sank again within a few years. Why?

Slurry can wash out or compress, and it adds weight to soil that is already moving through Central Ohio's freeze-thaw and wet-dry cycles. Foam does not wash out, but drainage still matters: send downspouts away from the slab so the soil next to it isn't soaked every rain.

For $2,000 should I just pour a new stoop?

Sometimes, yes. Get both prices. A small, badly cracked stoop can be worth repouring. A sound slab that only dropped is usually cheaper and faster to lift — and you keep the concrete you already have.
